Reality Tour, South America: Puente del Inca
Our last stop before a late lunch at a road side restaurant frequented by locals was the remarkable bridge, Puente del Inca, a natural stone bridge believed to be used by the Incas to cross the Río de las Cuevas.

Collette passenger Elizabeth and I posing for pictures at the Puente del Inca natural bridge.
Ever helpful, Max, relays to our group that the bridge was once made of ice that was hardened by the thermal springs. Though you can’t walk on it (erosion has taken its toll), you can see the remains of an old spa that once belonged to a hotel that was built in 1917 to take advantage of the thermal springs. In 1965, an avalanche destroyed the hotel but the adjacent church was miraculously unscathed.
Tomorrow I’ll post of our arrival in Mendoza. Today was a long but satisfying journey crossing the Andes…
