What can an 80’s film teach us about travel?
In the iconic 80’s film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the lead character turns to the camera and says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.” And that’s what travel is all about. It gives us a chance to break out of normal patterns. Step away from your regular life and leave the reality television and lines at the grocery store behind for a while.
Regardless of the destination you choose, you’ll learn a little about yourself as you encounter new situations. Maybe you never thought you’d walk through a rainforest, venture into the Australian Outback or kiss the Blarney Stone but there you are doing those amazing things.
New experiences mean a new you, rejuvenated, revitalized. You are creating fresh memories, which is nice because let’s face it, there’s nothing as boring as listening to someone who only talks about the “good old days.” These are the days, your days.
As Ferris might say, it’s all about gaining perspective and shaking things up a little.
