My first Collette Tour

Golden Gate BridgeTravel is one of the obvious perks of working for Collette Vacations, the oldest major tour operator in the United States.

And this year I’ll be heading out on Collette’s Historic Trains of California tour. I’m excited to see first hand how our escorted tours work. Like anything else, to truly understand the way Collette does business, you need to go out and do it. So much goes into making sure each passenger enjoys their vacation. It will be nice to see all that hard work pay off. And I can’t wait to witness one of our legendary Tour Managers in action.

I’ve always found anticipation to be one of the best parts of travel. Not only does this trip offer 4 historic trains (a first for me) it also includes a guided San Francisco city tour! If you read my bio, you’ll see it’s one of my favorite cities.

We’ll also be riding the Napa Valley Wine Train, cruising Lake Tahoe, visiting Sacramento, exploring the history of California, traveling past redwood forests… stop me before I break into “This Land is Your Land.”

El CapitanThe biggest highlight, both literally and figuratively, is sure to be Yosemite National Park. In April I finished reading Theodore Rex – a Theodore Roosevelt biography. This epic book covers TR’s efforts to preserve land for future generations. I’ll be thinking of him when I’m looking up at El Capitan and the giant Sequoias.

Check out Collette’s Historic Trains of California. Maybe I’ll see in you in San Francisco!
