Bio | My name is Kathy Sullivan and I have worked at Collette Vacations for 11 years. I work in the Community Relations division and channel donations from Collette through the Alice I. Sullivan Foundation, to non-profits in Rhode Island and nearby communities. I have been married to Dan the CEO (his blog name) for 36 years and have 3 children, grown-ups actually who also work for Collette. My hobbies are cooking, tennis, reading and traveling, not necessarily in that order. I also love sports and being from New England, my favorite teams to watch are the Boston Red Sox and the NE Patriots. I listen to sports radio every day, so I am always up to date with what is going on with my teams. I am lucky enough to have traveled to all 7 continents. I love all of the destinations I have visited, but two of my favorites are Bermuda (where I met my husband) and Italy.

Do you keep a diary or a journal when you travel?

Why Journal?
I never used to keep a journal or diary when I’d travel, and when I got home, I could recite everything to my friends and family because it was all fresh in my mind.  The good thing is that I have a good memory, but the little details that happened in my travels years [...]

How do you choose your next vacation?

I guess you could twirl a globe and point your finger, but then you might end up in the middle of a jungle or on top of Mt. Everest.  I think there are two clear ways to approach the matter:

Do a little research, checking your budget and travel wishlist.
Listen to your family and friends and [...]

Why is travel good for you?

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef

I personally think that travel is one of the greatest educations we can receive. You learn about geography, the social dynamics of different areas of the world, trends, and basically walk through history – which is so much more fun than just reading about it.
Let’s take a trip like Australia.  The Great Barrier Reef [...]

Pineapple Bread Soufflé Recipe

My daughter, Jaclyn and son-in-law Christian just recently got married and embarked on a romantic, tropical honeymoon. As I looked at all the pictures people had taken of the happy couple, so many wonderful memories flooded back to me.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Hawaii and I remember going there and just loving the tropical [...]

Family Trip to California Part II

As we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, we were so excited to be in San Francisco, the “city by the Bay” and ready for everything that San Fran is famous for.

Our first stop was the Ferry Building Marketplace where we did a walking tour with an epicurean concierge to sample the best of the Bay Area’s [...]

Family Trip to California Part I

NAPA VALLEY

I’ve looked forward to this trip for a long time.  I’ve been to all 7 continents, and I’d never been to Napa Valley. Present on our trip: Myself; Dan; my son Danny; daughter Jaclyn and her husband Christian; and Nicole and her boyfriend John.  My niece, Lauren (who lives in CA) met us at our [...]

California & Vegas Trip: It’s A Wrap!

In my last post, A Bunny Hop to California, I was so excited for my Easter trip to California. Well – it’s all over now, and what a time. I am finally unpacked, back in Rhode Island – just in time for the gorgeous spring weather (we had terrible rain and flooding, just before I left!).
California [...]

Easter Recipe: Italian Egg Biscuits

Below is a recipe I love.  I make it for Easter every year (my kids request it).  I make it for other holidays, too, but I especially love these biscuits for Easter.  Have a great holiday. If you don’t have time to make this for Easter, print the recipe and save for another time.  I [...]

A Bunny Hop To California

This Sunday is Easter.  I made plans to go visit my niece with my sister, not realizing that it was Easter weekend.  Nonetheless, Lauren was thrilled we were coming, so I am traveling to sunny Los Angeles, California to see the transplanted east coasters.
Two of my kids, Danny and Nicole, lived in California for seven [...]

Growing Up Italian

I recently read a book called Growing Up Italian by Dr. Ed Iannuccilli and it brought back a lot of great memories for me. My dad was an Italian born in the USA, but his parents came from a little village/paese in Italy called “Foggia” near Naples.
Growing up we’d trudge to my grandmother’s (who we [...]
