Travel Bug

Bio | Nicole Sullivan Bio: I’ve been writing for Collette Vacations since 2006. I like to think I’ve landed the dream job; my work takes me to Italy, New Orleans, Canada, Egypt… and a bunch of other ‘bucket list’ destinations. Education: Marketing Certification (present) at New York University; Bachelors of Arts in Communications at Boston College. All-time favorite destination? I love the romance of Italy. Siena and Lucca are my favorite Tuscan towns. Prince Edward Island inspires me most (unsurprising since Anne of Green Gables is one of my all-time favorite stories). And Egypt is a magical place where ancient wonders still stand and legends of Pharaohs past still hang in the air with every sight.

The Halloween Recap

Okay, so let me warn you before you watch the video below – at Collette, Halloween is a big deal.
Like, a really big deal. It’s a full competition between every department – Air, Accounting, Marketing, our Call Center/Inside Sales, Inventory, Tour Managers, Product, etc, etc. The departments vote for a theme, have lunch meetings [...]

TV Tuesday: Canadian Rockies by Train

Here’s a new version of our Canadian Rockies by Train tour video. Find out why it has been in Collette’s top ten for years on end.

This post is part of our new TV Tuesday series. Check back on Tuesday’s to see our latest destination videos.

It’s that time of year again!

And no… I’m not referring to TV’s fall premiere lineup and the latest music on Glee! Though travel does capture the same kind of magic and emotion as any number on the musical drama – and it offers the same kind of excitement as any TV show.
Every day on tour is a cliffhanger; every cultural [...]

Top 10 Sunny Destinations

I’ve had it with the rain. I am facing the fifth day of rain in a row. Apparently it’s exactly day 5 where I experience the rainy day blues and sunny-day daydreams worthy of Chevy Chase’s delusion of a swimming pool at Christmastime in Christmas Vacation.
Outside, it’s gray and damp. So I’ve taken to bothering [...]

VIDEO: Hawaii’s “aloha spirit”

I’ve loved Hawaii since I first stepped on the white-sand beaches of Honolulu in 1988. It was the first time in my life that I had ever experienced jet lag, I recall. But my brother, sister, parents and I got over it fast. We had a lot to do. We got to see Don Ho [...]

Branson Rocks

A city of music and energy, unrivaled musical acts and dynamic, fun shows – Branson offers a fun getaway that’s not too far from home!

My dad, fellow blogger Dan the Ceo, guides one tour every year. He’s been as far as Egypt and South Africa when he guides. His goal: to continue to see the world and [...]

RECIPE: Texas Chili

The past two days have been dreary, chilly, rainy and gray – a break from the sundrenched endless summer days I’ve been enjoying. Instead of barbequing, I’ve been opting for warmer dishes that are basically getting me excited for hearty fall and winter nights. A favorite of mine is definitely a chili recipe my sister [...]

It’s almost that time of year again!

Cedar-shingle cottages, bucolic country roads, majestic rocky bluffs– the charm of historic New England is legendary, which is why for many travelers, seeing this corner of the country is on their bucket list.
While any time of year is exquisite (we’re biased; we live here), the region’s most visited time of year is undoubtedly the fall, [...]

VIDEO: Mackinac Island

Â
I recently watched Somewhere in Time with the late Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. It’s such a timeless love story and should be seen by ALL! At least, in my opinion. As I watched the two protagonists fall in love in and around the Grand Hotel, I reminsced to a family trip from 2004.
My parents, [...]

Tech on Tour: Using Technology for Smoother Travel

Gone are the days when stress-free traveling meant relying on dated brochures and how-do-you-put-this-thing-back-together maps. Thanks to helpful tech tools including iPhones and Androids, getting to know a new city can be as easy as pushing a (digital) button. Sure, with a company like Collette, you are shown the local hangouts and musts of sightseeing [...]
